Amann

Amann is a Thai artist who started painting graffiti in 2001. He was initially exposed to street culture as an avid skateboarder and band member. He found himself particularly drawn to, and inspired by, graffiti art.

His creative world is poetic, mysterious and unique. In order to express him visually on canvas, he has developed a style which also mixes a variety of media and materials.

Amann finds artistic inspiration from his childhood, the people he meets and his travels around the world in France, Japan, Morocco or Indonesia. He is particularly passionate about the fact that street art has no social barriers: Everyone can contribute to it and everyone can access it. Talking directly to people on the street through painting is the true power of street art for Amann. The development of each piece of art can reflect feelings like a mirror and beyond this, can act as a vehicle for social change and independent expression.

He has painted many different characters in the past but now MUTE, his latest character really reflects his identity. It is simple, it has no mouth, yet can visually express so many messages. The character was the inspiration for his Tokyo exhibition, entitled ‘MUTE’, in 2019. Amann’s most recent solo exhibition, PIECES OF MIND, showcased a range of diverse creations. This took place in Thailand but Amann is hoping to showcase his new pieces in France in the near future.
